I’m a journalist and the author of 25 Years of 22 Minutes: An Unauthorized Oral History of This Hour Has 22 Minutes, published by Nimbus Publishing in October 2017, and co-author of We Rise Again: More Stories of Hope and Resilience from Nova Scotia During the COVID-19 Pandemic, published by Nimbus in 2021.
I am currently the adult non-fiction editor at Nimbus Publishing and a freelance writer.
I’ve worked for many years as a freelance writer for magazines and newspapers. In 2018, I won the Dave Greber Freelance Writers Magazine Award — a national award for social justice writing. In 2012, I was awarded the George Cadogan Memorial Outstanding Columnist Award from the Canadian Community Newspapers Association.
In 2015, I earned a master’s degree in journalism at the University of King’s College in Halifax, NS. From 2015 to 2019 I was a part-time instructor with the King’s Faculty of Journalism.
